Original Tools for OS/2

Original tools for OS/2 (1). These programs are generally japanese language specific, or no english documtents.

• Shifty - terminal emulator
• qp - text viewer
• xfont - display X fonts
• tablet - input supports for special characters
• dupf - checks duplicate files
• nup - compact print utility
• hambiff - hamster checks your mailbox

It quite shifty VT100 emulator (japanese specific). It works over serial line, or telnet. It support major Japanese Kanji codes SJIS, EUC, and 7bit JIS codes. Also support (basic) kermit, xmodem protocols.

It replacement of 'less' viewer (japanese specific). On my environment, it is faster than 'less'.

It determines KANJI code per line bases. So if single file contains several KANJI codes (such as /bin/mail folder), 'less' confuses KANJI codes, but this one not. Current version supprort KANJI codes, SJIS (OS/2 native), JIS7 (ISO-2022-JP), EUC-JP, and UTF-8.

New version, converting KANJI with libiconv and added UTF-8 support.

It displays X fonts on PM, and you can enlarge, clip glyphs. I use this program to copy character glyphs (bitmaps) into OS/2's Icon Editor. Contains japanese documents only.

It shows japanese code table, and you can select/clip KANJI from there. Ofcourse, this is japanese specific.

• Selected font is not saved.
• Cannot change target window, if already another window is targeted.
• For entryfield, selected kanji is always appened to end.

It is compact print utility using PM's device independent printing. So it works on any printer, if printer driver exists. You can print 1, 2, 4 pages on Landscape/Portrait orientation. This program is japanese specific.

Now "nup" uses printer font to print text. It lot speed up printing to PS printer.

This is an replacement for 'xbiff'.

Checks your mail box using POP3. To use with local POP server, it uses USER/PASS authentication. It send plain (non-crypto) password to network, so it will lot danger using public network.

Changed bitmaps to uncompressed bitmaps. Old version uses compressed bitmaps, they cause trouble on some display drivers. If old version v1.01 works well, then no need to replace. If you have trouble with old version, then try new version v1.02.

Added english support (and documnets). Now zip archive contains both Japaese and English version.

1. In documents and source code, auther's address is akira@sra.co.jp, but after retirement, it become unreachable.Please use current mail address akira@p08.itscom.net.

   But after retirement, I don't have OS/2 environment at hand. So I cannot confirm any problems, or no more updates.
